KZNMYBC recently held their inaugural Bursary Awards on the 26th November 2022 at the Hilton College Theatre. The Awards were open to all studios throughout the Midlands area, one dancer coming all the way from Ladysmith and one from Winterton.
Robin Van Wyk came up from Cape Town to teach the dancers’ the work they were performing and adjudicated alongside Mariette Opperman Lubbe, an ex Cape Town City Soloist. There were a total of 32 dancers dancers divided into:
- Grades 1 and 2
- Grades 3 and 4
- Grade 5 and Intermediate Foundation
- Intermediate
- Advanced Foundation/Advanced 1
MDTC was very proud of ALL their dancers who performed beautifully! The following MDTC dancers won bursaries:
Grade /Inter. Foundation
- Winner – Nqobile Mthombeni – R3000
- Runner Up – Oratile Molefe – R800
Intermediate
- Winner – Thando Maphanga – R4000
- Runner Up – Amahle Mtshali – R900
Adv. Found/Adv. 1
- Runner Up – Jessie Zunckel – R1000
